It's hard to knock a game for being average, but that's just what "Lost Planet 3" is. It has its moments, and it's a playable and mostly entertaining experience, but it's by no means a must-play game.

Jonathan Bester from ITF Gaming writes: Weve seen some truly stellar titles that have defined this genre and made it what it is today. Now, Lost Planet 3 has stepped up to the plate to test its worth against those that have come before it. With its melancholy ice covered landscape and its mech-vs-monster-driven story line, it certainly vies to be up there, but will it succeed in joining the ranks of greatness achieved by the giants of 3rd-person shooters before it, or will it be left as a frozen memory on the lost planet of E.D.N III? Lets find out.

The original Lost Planet (LP) was a relatively early (Dec '06) title for this nearly-over console generation. Developed exclusively for the Xbox 360 at launch, Inafune's third person action-adventure wasn't perfect, but it was pretty damn cool nonetheless.

Ginx:Despite a frosty critical reception, the Lost Planet series was a financial flop. Wait a second, that doesn't sound right... Nope, that's actually right. No love, nor money neither. Huh. Well, that makes even the existence of Lost Planet 3 quite a surprise then. Did Capcom not say everything there was about snow and guns and mediocrity in the last two games? Apparently not, and in fact, this one looks a bit different. It looks good. It actually looks really good. But can it be for real?

The extreme and unpredictable conditions that characterised the Lost Planet series return, harsher than ever before. Lost Planet 3 reveals new truths about the foreboding planet and the colonial history of E.D.N. III.

NoSleepGamer writes: What happened Lost Planet, you used to be cool. Replacing Vital Suits for lumbering maintenance mechs was an awful choice, but the lack of decent boss fights robs the series of its core pleasure. The great characters enable the game to provide an interesting story, but its drowned out by mercilessly dull action.
